Large-Diaphragm Tube Condenser Microphone with PSU
Record with Rich Tube Magic
Taking inspiration from a studio legend while adding a few new tricks, the Bock 167 from Universal Audio is a large-diaphragm, tube condenser microphone that captures the classic, smooth tone of the venerable U67 and injects modern flexibility. With continuously variable pickup patterns ranging from omnidirectional and figure-8, to cardioid, as well a host of onboard controls for sculpting your sound, the Bock 167 is immensely versatile, offering all of the sonic quality of the original K67 capsule, but with cutting-edge precision and reliability.
This handwired mic boasts three distinct EQ settings for cutting or boosting high frequencies, a -10 dB pad for avoiding unwanted distortions during loud sessions, and a unique fat switch for boosting low-end content between 10 and 400 Hz. This microphone includes a premium wooden storage case, a shockmount, and the UA Bock 167 true linear power supply, which provides the variable pattern control and a fine-tuned power output that will help your mic produce stunning recordings for years to come.
Add a Handmade Masterpiece to your Studio
The UA Bock 167 is David Bock’s thoughtful reimagining of the iconic U67 mics he studied and maintained as chief technical engineer of the world’s top recording studios for two decades. Handbuilt at UA’s Custom Shop in Santa Cruz, California, the UA Bock 167 is the perfect choice for recording singers, acoustic instruments, drums, and voiceovers.
Get Iconic Sounds with Modern Tone Sculpting
Vintage U67 tube mics are cherished for their full sound and lively midrange. The UA Bock 167 improves upon this classic design with three EQ filtering options, a unique fat switch, and continuously variable polar patterns. This translates into recordings with more dynamic range, tonal extension, and flexibility.
Stay in Control
The Bock 167 comes with loads of onboard control options so you can shape your sounds before they even leave your mic. The aforementioned fat switch provides a low-end boost between 10 and 400 Hz, making your recordings sound thicker and more present.
A high-frequency contour switch lets you choose between three EQ positions: a cut of -1.5 dB at 2 kHz, a cut of -3 dB at 10 kHz, flat (unaffected), and a boost of +2 dB at 10 kHz. Finally, a -10 dB pad combined with the high 118 dB max SPL helps avoid any distortion or damage to your capsule, making it easier to slap some of that tube magic onto loud sources like drums, guitar cabs, and particularly powerful vocalists.
Experience a Lifetime of Beautiful Recordings
Handwired using premium components—including a dual-symmetrical K67 capsule, Lundahl transformer, and NOS EF732 tube—each UA Bock 167 is built and tested to David Bock’s exacting specifications. With its premium case, professional shockmount, and hand-tuned, true linear power supply, this mic will provide years of exceptional recordings.
