The Apogee Symphony I/O MKII Thunderbolt is the most powerful multi-channel audio interface for Thunderbolt-based Mac workstations. Designed for the home or professional studio running Logic Pro X or any other native based DAW, this system offers your choice of 4 different base I/O configurations with the option to expand up to 32×32 simultaneous channels per unit while still maintaining incredibly low latency.

READY FOR IMMERSIVE AUDIO

Mixing for Dolby Atmos and other immersive 3D formats is rapidly becoming an essential skill for the modern creator and engineer. As streaming services highlight immersive content and record companies require immersive audio deliverables, you may be asking yourself “how do I get started”?

With Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt’s Monitor Workflows, you’ll effortlessly configure and operate your monitoring system for Dolby Atmos, Sony 360 Reality Audio and other immersive audio systems with control of up to 32 Speaker outputs.

Within each Monitor Workflow, you design the audio flow from your DAW outputs, Symphony internal mixers and hardware inputs to your expanded speaker array. Use these features to customize your Workflow:

  • Source Routing – Choose Playback (from your DAW), Mixer or Hardware inputs sources for each Speaker output pair.
  • Speaker Sets – Create up to 3 Speaker Sets, then instantly toggle between them from Symphony Control software
  • Speaker Level Trim – Creating the perfect level balance between all your speakers
  • Speaker Mute/Solo – Resolve issues in your configuration quickly with mute and solo buttons
  • Speaker Status Icon- Color coded icons let you see your active speakers at a glance

In the modern production environment, you need to be able to completely reconfigure your monitoring system at the touch of a button. Symphony I/O Mk II allows you to create up to 16 Monitor Workflows, then instantly toggle between them from Symphony Control software, the front panel touchscreen, or the Apogee Control hardware remote.

PLUG AND PLAY ATMOS WITH LOGIC PRO X

Getting started with Dolby Atmos has never been easier using Logic Pro 10.7 and Symphony I/O Thunderbolt! In the past, setting up your Dolby Atmos studio was a multi-day affair, but now it’s plug and play with the latest from Apple and Apogee.

With such flexible monitor controller functionality incorporated at no extra cost for current and future owners, Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt makes the best cornerstone of your Dolby Atmos or other immersive audio studio.

TRUE THUNDERBOLT PERFORMANCE

Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt delivers the full potential of Thunderbolt 2 performance with the lowest latency, unmatched CPU efficiency and 2 ports for connecting additional peripherals.

LOW LATENCY

Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt relies on Apogee’s proprietary Thunderbolt driver, written from the ground up to offer unmatched performance and efficiency. When using Logic Pro X, latency has been reduced to an astounding 1.35 ms round-trip*, allowing you to monitor through your DAW, plug-ins included, simplifying your workflow and leveraging the power of your Mac. Even when your session’s DSP demands require a higher buffer setting, Symphony I/O’s ultra-low latency means no longer having to choose between power and speed.

To accommodate different workflow preferences, Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt features optional direct hardware monitoring through Symphony Control Software with 0.6ms of latency.

DEVOURS BITS, SIPS CPU

Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt’s custom driver includes a revolutionary Direct Memory Access (DMA) engine to more efficiently read and write data directly to Mac memory independent of the Mac CPU.

The DMA engine, running on Symphony I/O Mk II Thunderbolt’s hardware logic chip, increases the driver’s efficiency and provides the highest resolution signal possible to the DAC stage. This implementation allows the driver to crunch an enormous amount of data at an amazing speed, while making a very light demand on your Mac CPU. You benefit with lower latency, more plug-in power, and a transparent and encompassing listening experience.

8 CHANNEL MIC PREAMP MODULE (ONE INCLUDED)

Symphony I/O Mk II’s mic pre module includes 8 uniquely designed channels of Apogee’s Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture, in which the circuit is dynamically optimized to provide superior bandwidth, ultra low noise and nonexistent distortion across the unprecedented gain range of 0-85 dB. Whether recording powerful drums, dynamic vocals or delicate strings, your recordings retain the full impact, intricate detail and lifelike dimension of the original performance.

Symphony I/O Mk II’s Mic pre module also includes 8 channels of digitally-controlled analog inserts, so that outboard processors like EQ and compression may be inserted into the signal path between the mic preamp and the A/D conversion stage effortlessly. Because the inserts are digitally-controlled from Symphony Control software, any insert can be assigned to any input channel – there’s no need to physically reconnect your outboard equipment to a different insert channel.
