32 x 32 Ethernet Audio Network Digital I/O Interface
RedNet 3 from Focusrite is a remote controlled, thirty-two channel input/output ADAT digital audio interface that uses the Dante networking system to transfer studio quality sound between any modern audio application. The sixteen ADAT optical ports support thirty-two digital channels in and out, even at 96 kHz using S-MUX2. The unit also includes support for eight channels of AES/EBU and two channels of S/PDIF digital audio I/O and allows the RedNet system to be synchronized to incoming signal clock or a Wordclock source .
The RedNet system was designed for use in multiple audio applications, from live sound rigs to multi-room recording studios, houses of worship, audio distribution installations, post production environments and anything in-between. RedNet 3 can be used simply as a means of converting thirty-two channels of digital audio between formats and delivering it somewhere else on the network at near-zero latency. Sample rate conversion is available on the AES and S/PIDF inputs.
There are three methods of connecting the unit to a computer using a single Ethernet cable. These are via an optional RedNet PCIe card (for ASIO and Core Audio applications), directly into the computer’s Ethernet port using DVS (Dante Virtual Soundcard) software where near zero latency is not essential, or through an existing RedNet 5 interface for connecting directly to Pro Tools HD, Pro Tools HDX and Pro Tools HD Native.
