StageCONNECT Interface Bridge
The Klark Teknik DN4816U StageCONNECT Interface Bridge is a universal and compact interface box for sharing 32 channels of audio between StageConnect devices, Behringer Ultranet, and USB audio on your Mac/Windows computer.
Use the DN4816U to send USB audio to Behringer P16 personal monitor mixers, use a Midas MR18 as a 16-channel input box for Behringer WING, or record 32 channels from WING directly into your DAW. There are various I/O options available providing easily scalable connectivity in your side rack. The devices of the DN48XX Series can be daisy-chained and will automatically allocate the channels for their respective connectivity.
StageConnect is an interface standard capable of transmitting uncompressed PCM audio in various I/O configurations, 24-bit at 48 kHz, and below 0.5 ms of latency, via a single cable.
- Use a standard XLR or DMX cable to transmit up to 32 channels of audio.
- That cable can transmit signals not only one way, but bidirectionally. That cable allows the passage of control data and MIDI at the same time.
- A connected StageConnect device can receive up to 18W of power through that same cable.
- No matter if you want to use StageConnect for connecting external effects, wireless, or playback Systems, the Klark Teknik and Midas DN48XX Series devices can easily be daisy-chained to meet the requirements of your I/O configuration.
- A total bandwidth of 32 channels (all combinations ranging from 32 inputs, through 16 inputs and outputs in parallel, to 32 outputs) can be achieved using different combinations of DN48XX interfaces connected with a simple XLR cable.
- To adapt for different requirements, the DN4816U provides a button to choose the USB I/O configuration.
- The DN48XX Series devices can be powered via DC or via StageConnect bus.
- By design every StageConnect Master provides 18W of power that can be used by devices in the chain. Depending on the respective power consumption multiple devices in the chain can be phantom powered by a single Master device.
- A StageConnect device in the chain that is supplied with DC power can supply other devices connected to its Master Port as well.
- To check your respective setup for power consumption, use the StageConnect Calculator. This tool checks a virtually configured chain for the DMX cable lengths, power supply, audio routing, and other parameters.
- There are two ways to configure a StageConnect chain. Either you can manually configure the chain using devices like WING, or let the Automatic Bus Configuration do its work.
- This process adapts the input and output configuration of the StageConnect Bus depending on the connected devices. Simply connect devices, and the Master device of the chain will automatically change the routing.
- To check and plan setups, the StageConnect Calculator software is available, providing information about the routing and DMX cable length, power management, and other parameters.
- The DN4816U provides sample-rate conversion to separate the Ultranet input from StageConnect and USB. It allows you to connect Ultranet sources to your WING console while keeping both clock sources independent.
- This is especially useful when pulling signals via Ultranet from an IEM system onstage, while keeping an independent clock for FOH.
