The Matrix2 from Solid State Logic is combination console/controller designed for use in a hybrid production studio and is an effective solution for those who wish to incorporate the sonic advantages of SSL summing and a collection of boutique analog microphone preamps and processors into a DAW-centric studio. The console/controller is fully capable of integrating monitors, workstations, and outboard gear for a smooth workflow.

The analog side of the unit combines a forty-input SuperAnalogue summing mixer with fully featured monitor-switching and talkback and a built-in Insert Router, which allows for single or chained analog outboard processors to be inserted quickly and easily. With a single button push, the 16 + 1 fader hardware control surface switches from controlling the analog signal path to functioning as a comprehensive multilayer DAW control surface.

Summing Console

  • Sixteen analog line channels with two inputs per channel
  • 32 x 16 x 16 insert router for up to sixteen external hardware processing devices
  • Hardware processors can be inserted via console controls or cross-platform drag-and-drop software browser
  • Hardware processors can be inserted individually or as chains
  • Stereo auxiliary send and four mono sends per channel
  • Four stereo returns with full stereo mix bus routing
  • Dual stereo mix buses with summing inserts and reassign
  • Artist monitor output with independent EQ and monitor source selection
  • Inline DAW monitoring with SuperCue headphone mode
  • Stereo or 5.1 external monitor inputs
  • Stereo or 5.1 external monitoring outputs with independent main and mini monitor control
  • Stereo digital I/O (S/PDIF, AES/EBU) with SSL converter technology
  • iJack front panel monitor input
  • Heavy duty external power supply
