Stereo Condenser Microphone and Trigger Pickup for Acoustic Drums

The Yamaha DSU50 Stereo Condenser Microphone and Trigger Pickup for Acoustic Drums is a purpose-built solution for drummers who want to capture the full character of their acoustic kit with minimal setup. Designed to mount directly to the bass drum hoop and face the player, it delivers a wide, natural stereo image of the entire kit—no multi-mic configuration required. Whether you’re rehearsing, performing live, recording, monitoring, or streaming, a single DSU50 provides a clean, full-bodied sound with remarkable clarity and balance.

Note: The DSU50 is included with the EAD50 and is also available separately. It is not compatible with the EAD10.

Capture Your Entire Kit with a Single Mic
At the core of the DSU50 is a pair of custom-matched condenser capsules arranged in an XY configuration, specifically tuned for the dynamics of acoustic drums. This stereo design captures both the punch and subtle detail of your playing, producing a cohesive, natural soundstage that reflects the true character of your kit. For expanded depth or enhanced cymbal and room detail, adding a second DSU50 can further widen the stereo image-without the complexity of traditional multi-mic setups.
Engineered for Clean, Reliable Performance
The DSU50’s advanced housing features a physically isolated internal structure that separates the microphone and sensor components, minimizing vibration and mechanical noise. This ensures stable, low-noise performance across a wide range of environments, from small rehearsal spaces to live stages. Every component is carefully voiced under Yamaha’s sound direction and refined with input from a respected recording engineer, resulting in a polished, professional sound.
Hybrid Performance with Trigger Integration
In addition to its stereo microphone system, the DSU50 incorporates a newly developed trigger sensor that accurately detects bass drum attack. When paired with the Yamaha EAD50 Electronic Acoustic Drum Module, this allows you to layer triggered sounds or apply effects to your acoustic signal, opening the door to expressive hybrid performance for live shows, streaming, or music production.
Flexible Mounting, Streamlined Workflow
A slim, unobtrusive design with an integrated hoop clamp and 3/8″ mic stand mount allows for flexible placement without interfering with your drum setup. The included professional breakout cable ensures clean stereo output, making it easy to integrate the DSU50 into your existing rig. With its combination of simplicity, precision, and musicality, the DSU50 redefines what drum miking can be, offering a streamlined workflow and consistently great sound in any situation.
